Donald McAlpine known as Don, has had an illustrious career throughout his film and television work as a cinematographer. Don began his work as a humble school teacher in rural Australia, fast forward a few years to working on some of the most memorable movies of all time, including The Dressmaker, Peter Pan and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The beloved Robin Williams was one of the fantastic talents Don had the pleasure of working with on the movie Mrs Doubtfire.

Don’s career took off while working with fellow Australian Baz Luhrmann on Shakespeare’s “Romeo + Juliet” with Leonardo DiCaprio and with Nicole Kidman on “Moulin Rouge.” It was in Moulin Rouge that Don received an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography. He has even collaborated on movies with actor-directors such as Mel Gibson and Paul Newman.

Don has described himself as, “a story teller who happens to be able to control a camera.”
